- Port-au-Prince, Haiti and surrounding area was struck
by a
major earthquake on January 12.
St. Monica's had a team on the ground within 5
days providing medical care at a makeshift field hospital and
making safe water available to hard-hit communities around
Port-au-Prince. Please visit our

The Hope for Haiti Gala
was held on September 26, 2009 and was a great success, raising
approximately $85,000 which will help fund our clinic, soup kitchen and
numerous other programs in the coming months. Next year's gala has been
set for October 22. Please mark your calendars!

- Our
October Mission to Hinche was in two parts - Jim Toth
and Barb Burke held many meetings with officials in Port au Prince to
pave the way for future shipments of medicines into Haiti and later
traveled to Hinche to meet with our clinic staff. Meanwhile, the
Coughlin brothers - Michael, David and Mark held an eyeglass clinic at
Sacre Coeur, fitting hundreds of people, including many school children,
with corrective eyewear.

The
Safe Water Project has been ramping up for several months now, and
we are already seeing health benefits in the approximately 3,000 participating families.
People are reporting a reduction in potentially deadly diarrhea and
other ailments since they began using our "Klorfasil" system.
